Dr Efstathios Roumeliotis
Genetic Plant Breeding of Vegetable Crop Plants
- Email
Stathis Roumeliotis is a graduate of the Agricultural University of Athens, Department of Plant Production, specializing in Plant Protection and Environment (2006). He continued his studies with scholarships (Bakalas Foundation, Stichting Veenhuizen-Tulp fonds) in the Plant Breeding department at Wageningen University in the Netherlands, under professors Prof. Dr. Richard Visser and Dr. Christian Bachem, where he obtained his doctorate (2012). His doctoral research focused on the developmental physiology of tubers and the architecture of the potato stolons. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and subsequently at the Department of Biology, Plant Physiology Laboratory of the University of Liège in Belgium with Professor Dr. Claire Périlleux. From the fall of 2019 until May 2023, he served as a non tenure contracted lecturer at the University of Patras in the Departments of Agriculture (Amaliada until 2022) and Plant Production (Messolonghi, academic year 2022-2023). Since 2023, he has been serving as a researcher Grade C at the Institute of Genetic Improvement and Plant Genetic Resources of ELGO DIMITRA in Thermi, Thessaloniki, in the field of "Genetic Improvement of Vegetables."
