OPPORTUNITIES AND PROSPECTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF MAIZE POPCORN CULTIVATION IN EASTERN MACEDONIA AND THRACE – Hellas-PopCorn
The development of a sustainable and competitive value chain for popcorn in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, through the evaluation of suitable hybrids, the implementation of best cultivation practices, and the production of innovative popcorn products with high nutritional value. At the same time, it aims to strengthen the local economy, foster cooperation among producers, processors, and research institutions, and promote a strong regional brand.
The development and evaluation of high-yield, high-quality popcorn maize hybrids adapted to local conditions. Through seed production and collaboration with farmers in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, production costs will be reduced and control across all stages of the value chain will be strengthened. The utilization of new hybrids, combined with innovative processing techniques, will lead to the production of differentiated popcorn products, with an emphasis on nutritional value, taste, and sustainability.
