Dr Ioannis G. Mylonas is a Principal Researcher in Cereal Genetics and Breeding and Associate Manager of the Greek Gene Bank. He has extensive expertise in plant genetic resources, cereal breeding, intercropping systems, cultivation techniques, stress tolerance, and resource-use efficiency. He has established strong collaborations with research partners across Europe and the Mediterranean and has participated in more than 40 European and national research projects. In 16 of these, he served as Coordinator, Scientific Responsible, or Work Package Leader for cereal and legume-related activities, including plant breeding, evaluation of genotypes (e.g., landraces) for abiotic and biotic stress tolerance, genetic diversity assessment, adaptation to climate change and low-input systems, Genotype × Environment (G×E) interaction and stability analysis, molecular techniques, quality traits, and intercropping systems. He has authored 44 scientific publications and presented 40 contributions at international and national conferences. He holds certification in adult education from the National Organization for the Certification of Qualifications & Vocational Guidance (EOPPEP). He is a Member of the European Cooperative Program for Plant Genetic Resources (ECPGR), a member of the Technical Committee on Plant Propagating Material (Cereals), Ministry of Agriculture, Board Member of the Hellenic Scientific Society for Plant Genetics and Breeding.
