Dr Polyxeni Pappi graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Environment of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She owns a Master in Plant Protection (2002) and a PhD degree in Plant Pathology-Virology from the same University (2014). Her PhD thesis, conducted under the supervision of Professor Nikolaos I. Katis, focused on the study of Eggplant mottled dwarf virus (EMDV). The research involved the characterization of viral isolate genomes, phylogenetic analyses, the investigation of genetic variability, and the development and validation of TaqMan-based molecular diagnostic assays for virus detection. She has worked as a laboratory assistant in the pre-graduate program of the School of Agriculture of the International Hellenic university (former School of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition of the Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki) and has been employed in several research projects at the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Environment and at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Since July 2017, she is a Researcher in Plant Virology of Hellenic Agricultural Organization -DIMITRA.
