Stefanos Andreadis is a Researcher in Agricultural Entomology at the Institute of Plant Breeding and Genetic Resources (Thermi, 2017–present) of the Hellenic Agricultural Organization DEMETER. He completed his studies and doctoral dissertation at the School of Agriculture of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in the Chemical Ecology Group in Alnarp (Sweden) and at Pennsylvania State University in the laboratory of Thomas C. Baker (USA). His research interests include the isolation and identification of biologically active chemical compounds involved in insect chemical communication and plant-insect interactions (semiochemicals, pheromones, etc.). Furthermore, his research focuses on the study of insect-plant-microorganism interactions, the role of insect olfactory receptors (ORs), the mechanisms of plant defense against harmful insect attacks, the application of alternative pest control methods (mating disruption, biological control, etc.), the impact of climatic and environmental factors on insect phenology, the rational management of arthropods of public health significance, and the use of insects for food and feed. He has participated as either a scientific coordinator or a collaborator in European, national, or privately funded research projects. He is also a member of various scientific societies in Greece and abroad. He has published 12 articles in popular science journals and 60 articles in peer-reviewed international journals (citations = 1,196, h-index = 21, i10-index = 35, Google Scholar), authored two academic textbooks, and holds one patent (USPatentApp. 17/290,360). He has organized national and international conferences and co-organized the 12th European Congress of Entomology held in Heraklion, Crete, in 2023. He serves as a reviewer for various scientific journals (>80 reviews) and is a member of the Topical Advisory Panel of the journal Insects. Additionally, he has been invited to deliver talks at various events and workshops.
