Dr. Eleni Tsaliki graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) Department of Agriculture, as Agriculture Engineer with specialization in Food Science and Technology, in 1992. She embarked on her post-graduate studies at the same university, in the Chemistry Department obtaining first a MSc (1997) and then a PhD degree (2002) in Chemistry. In her phD focused on the physicochemical properties of proteins and fibres of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.).
She had taken part in EU research programs of Agriculture department of AUTH (1992-1995) and since 1997 she worked as an Agriculture Engineer in the former Cotton and Industrial Plants Institute of NAGREF with specialization in cotton fibers evaluation, cotton cultivation and seed propagation. Since 2016, is researcher to Hellenic Agricultural Organization DIMITRA, Plant Breeding and Genetic Resources Institute. Her research activities are focused on agronomy and technology of field crops, evaluation of industrial crops varieties (cotton, tobacco, hemp, sesame), cotton and tobacco seed propagation and fiber quality evaluation. She has participated in many national and world scientific programs and is member of the International Cotton Research Association – ICRA. She has rich published work, has participated in scientific committees of international conferences and is also reviewer in international scientific journals.

- 2018-2022. Scientific coordinator of the program titled “TomorrowS - Designing cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L) and durum wheat (Triticum durum) crop management ideotypes (cultivars, fertilization, salinity and irrigation) by simulation under current and projected future climate: A comparative study in Greece and Tunisia” in the frame of ARIMNET, 2017.
- 2021 – till today. Scientific coordinator of the program «Breeding, Maintenance and Seed propagation of crops» in Institute of Plant Breeding and Genetic Resources.
- 2023-2025. Scientific coordinator of the project “Optimization of irrigation in industrial hemp crops of Central Macedonia and Thrace, for reduced tetrahydrocannabinol content and increased nutritional value of produced seed hemp oil” funded under the "Measure 16 'Cooperation" in the framework of National Rural Development Programme and it is co-financed by the European fund for rural development (EAFRD) and national budgets. Project code M16SΥΝ2-00402.
- 2023-2025. Scientific coordinator of the project “Restating HEMP Cultivation with Innovative Approaches” funded under the "Measure 16 'Cooperation" in the framework of National Rural Development Programme and it is co-financed by the European fund for rural development (EAFRD) and national budgets.
