Dr Paschalina Chatzopoulou, BSc in Pharmacy (University of Patras), holds a PhD from the School of Pharmacy, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki -AUTh – (1992), in the field Technology and Processing of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and analysis of bioactive compounds. In her PhD thesis she has studied the effect of processing parameters on the quality of Medicinal plants and essential oils and furthermore modern techniques for the isolation and characterization of volatile extracts. She was also involved in studies aiming at the development of ‘green technologies’ (Super Critical Fluid Extraction) in the extraction of natural products. During her PhD studies she granted the scholarship of Post graduate student from AUTh, and was involved as Graduate Teaching assistant in the Lab of Pharmaceutical Technology. She has been visiting fellow in the Center of Bio-Pharmaceutical Science, Gorlaeus Laboratoria, University of Leiden, the Department of Applied Technological Chemistry, Polytechnic School of Delft, The Netherlands (1989), and post-doctoral researcher in School of Pharmacy, AUTh (1992-1994). She worked as Clinical Trial Manager in the pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk S.A, Athens (1994-1997). She has been appointed as junior researcher by the National Agricultural Research Foundation (NAGREF), Agricultural Research Center of North Greece, Department of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (1997). Currently she is senior researcher at the Hellenic Agricultural Organization DEMETER (former NAGREF), Institute of Breeding and Plant Genetic Resources, Research Unit Medicinal and Aromatic Plants.
