Research on Deciduous Fruit Trees take place mainly on the premises of the Department of Deciduous Fruit Trees (former Pomology Institute) in Naoussa, and the Department of Nut Trees in Vardates Fhiotida
The areas of principle interest today are:
1.The development and valorisation of improved deciduous fruit tree cultivars and rootstocks.
2.The evaluation of cultivars and rootstocks with emphasis on yield, fruit quality, resistance to diseases, postharvest performance, chilling requirements etc.
3.Reservation of deciduous fruit tree genetic resources.
4.Improvement of cultivation and storage techniques, nutrition and fertilization, disease resistance and Integrated pest management.
