Dr Thomas Sotiropoulos is currently a Research Director at the Department of Deciduous Fruit Trees in Naoussa, Institute of Plant Breeding and Genetic Resources, Hellenic Agricultural Organization Demeter. He received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 1993, a MSc in Plant Breeding and Plant Physiology in 1996 and a PhD from the same University in 1999. During his post graduate studies, he was awarded a 3.5 year competitive scholarship from the Greek State Scholarship Foundation. During 2008 he participated as a short-term scholar in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of California in Davis. From 2002 until 2012 he served as a contract Assistant Professor in the Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki and the School of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has participated in several national and European research projects. To date, he has been a co-author of two books in English, of two educational manuals for growers, of 71 scientific papers in international referred journals, of 25 papers in International Conferences and 38 papers in Hellenic Conferences.
