Dr Thomas K. Gitsopoulos has received his Diploma from the Faculty of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Greece in 1996. In 2000 he received his PhD in Weed Science from the University of Reading, UK. Since then, he has worked for 10 years as an external assistant lecturer in the School of Agriculture Technology of the former Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki (today named as “International Hellenic University”). From 2004 to 2005 he was the Study Director GEP of GEP-GLP Anadiag Hellas Company, responsible for field experimentation for the registration of new plant protection products. From 2005 to 2006 he also worked as agronomist for the Ministry of Agriculture. Since 2006 he has been working as a Weed Science researcher in the Hellenic Agricultural Organization-DEMETER. His main research interests include chemical weed control, weed biology/ecology and integrated weed management. He has participated in various European and National research programs and he has published research papers in international journals, conference proceedings, whereas he has participated in numerous workshops on agricultural issues. He is a member of the Weed Science Society of Greece, whereas, he has also served as a member of its board. He is a member of the European Weed Research Society (EWRS).
