Dr Ioannis Mylonas works at the Institute of Plant Breeding and Genetic Resources. He is a researcher in Cereals Genetics & Breeding and associate manager in Greek Gene Bank. He has deep knowledge in scientific issues related to genetic resources, cereals, plant breeding, tolerance to stresses and resources use efficiency. He has established collaborations with partners across Europe and the Mediterranean and participated in 20 European and national research programs for cereals and legumes related to: plant breeding, evaluation of genotypes (e.g. landraces) fortolerance to abiotic and biotic stress, genetic diversity of landracesand genetic resources, adaption to climate changes and to low inputs,GxE interaction and stability of production, molecular techniques,quality parameters. He has published research work in scientific journals and in international and Greek conferences (70). He has educational certification for adult training from the National Organisation for the Certification of Qualifications & Vocational Guidance (EOPPEP). He is a member of ECPGR (European Cooperative Programme for Plant Genetic Resources (ECPGR), of the Technical Committee on Plant Propagating Material of Ministry of Agriculture responsible for cereals, and of director’s board at the Hellenic Scientific Society for Plant Genetics and Breeding.
